I must put it out there that the rule still holds fast: The pleasantness of the weather is directly proportional to the amount of work needing to be done. So naturally, the weather was gorgeous for the few days that we were cooped indoors, studying for a cumulative Physiology final. But the end was met with great rejoicing. And 4 day weekends like this do not come often.
Wednesday: The exam was over. We were somewhat sleep deprived, but pah, what's new? After attending the lunch hosted by our professors (and stealing some lasagna), we decided that we would spend the gorious afternoon at Capogiro's for some gelato. But remember that once work disappears, nice weather disappears with it and so it started raining. Unperturbed, we decided that there was no better time to frolic in the rain like children, so that's what we did (Ramya, Swetha, Ananya, Shivam, and I). I would have taken pictures but we brought nothing with us outside save for a soccer ball and so we walked all the way to Washington Sq. park to kick it around. We slipped, slid, picked flowers, did cartwheels, and pranced about without footwear.
Thursday: As you know, we rarely turn down free food, and on Thursday morning we partook in a 10 course dimsum meal hosted by the Hepatitis B foundation in Chinatown. Swetha left for home in the afternoon, and so I spent the rest of the day cleaning. I should really spare you the gruesome details, but let me just say that non-industrial vacuum cleaners are not adequate for our apartment. But eventually, the apartment became habitable and I even got the infamous hole fixed. In celebration of this new cleanliness, the progs came over for a night of poker. At some point during the night, Ananya, Ramya, and I stole Super Smash Bros. Brawl from the boys' Wii, but they recovered it quickly enough by holding several of my things ransom. A more elaborate plot must be devised next time.
Friday: Ramya, Ananya and I spent the day shopping at the Gallery and Liberty Place. When I got home, I was too tired to cook, so I ordered Indian food with Jeff and we spent the rest of the evening watching animated movies.
Saturday: Ananya, Charu, Jason, Harsha and I went to Six Flags! This was indeed super exciting as I hadn't been to a Six Flags since high school and will probably never be able to go during medical school. We were lucky enough to ride all the big coasters (and yes, I am tall enough, if you were wondering): Nitro, Batman, Superman, Kingda Ka, Bizarro, and El Toro. Though we did have to spend hours in line for each ride, we whiled away the time playing
contact, a word game.

Batman! Always has been one of my favorites. |
Funnel caaaaaake!!! (a.k.a. fried dough) |
Waiting in line for Superman! Don't be deceived by me or Harsha, it was actually pretty cold. We for some reason decided to leave our sweatshirts in the locker. |
Harsha and Charu in the front row of Superman! |
A snaaaaaaake a snaaaaaake |
Kingda Ka: The tallest and 2nd fastest (128 mph) coaster in the WORLD. |
A llama. |
We err...got wet on the log flume ride. |
El Toro: The absolute best wooden roller coaster I have ever been on. |
Harsha's batman cape (he and Jason have promised to wear theirs on the first day of Neuro) |
It was truly an incredible day. It reminded me of all the times we and our family friends would take trips to amusement parks. You learn to appreciate mothers once you no longer have them around giving you fried snacks, holding onto your stuff while you're on rides, and always having an extra pair of clothes for you to change into when you get soaked. Though I think Ramya would make a good substitute next time.
Sunday: Didn't do much today, but then again, the day is not over XD. And I do turn 21 in a less than 3 hours...
